Better support for Windows Vista security model. Whether we like it or not, Vista is forced on us. Having Motion View requiring administrator password requires anyone using the software to have access to the admin password. Are there any plans in progress to modify the software to run as a standard user?
We are pleased to announce that as of today, Feb 6, 2008, both MotionView and MotionClip no longer require administrator priveleges to run under Vista!
You will still need administrator priveleges to install and activate the software, but it is not needed to run it. Also announced today (on both XP and Vista) is support for running the software under multiple user accounts (on the same computer).
Some ideas for future revisions:
1. A more professional and intuitive interface. Current interface looks like it was designed by a programmer (no offence meant). A review by a professional usability expert would be of great benefit
2. Better graphics tools (ability to draw, move, resize, recolour, etc. graphics in a similar way to most “well known” graphic packages) would make the ability to carry out analysis much easier. Current tools are basic.
3. Better diagnostics tools to assist the beginner in getting the system up and running and to find out why their multi-camera setup might not be working (for example).
4. Take a look at dartfish for examples of what the best of breed are doing, and learn from that…
You have a good, low-ish cost product which with a little effort could really challenge the market.
I am considering buying a new sanyo xacti hd1010 camera with 300fps capability using a sd or sdhc memory card. Will I need to buy anything else to use it with my motion view. I now use a sony camera.
We do not officially support MPEG-4 format, since we have not identified a codec that will definitely work with MotionView. However, we do know of a few customers who are using MPEG-4 files with our software. We recommend that you try a sample video clip on your computer before committing to purchase that camera, if at all possible.
Hi folks,
After working pretty much with MotionView I would suggest to include the following features:
1. The QuadraView of One Video is GREAT. But when I want to make a Quick Snapshot of all 4 Frames, I get only 2 frames (on as overlay) –> Suggestion to have 4 Frames in the snapshot - Maybe you could think about a Stroboscope feature like in DartFish.
2. Allow more drawing object rather than only one per tool (e.g. several arrows, more text entries, …) - very often the limited number of drawing items are not enough
3. Export / Burning options so that files can be used on a DVD easily (without converting maybe) - I do want to give people a DVD to be used on TV rather than a CD to be used on PC.
4. I would like to translate the User Interface into German. What do I need to do ?
Thanx for your patience
tom
Thanks for the suggestions. You will be happy to know that the next release (7.2) of MotionView will support quad-screen snapshots, as well as quad-screen output when you create video lessons. It also permits individual arrows and drawing tools on each of the 4 videos. Additional drawing tools will follow soon.
For DVD creation, we recommend a program XConvert2DVD which is very quick and efficient (and affordable at under $50.00). We are not affiliated with this product, but we’ve looked at a number of them and this one seems to be the best for the price. We may add DVD creation into our products in the future… but until then this is a great alternative.
Translating into German: Maybe we can work something out with you Tom. Please contact us via email.
Hi I am having a problem with my motionview software. When I only had one camera hooked up it recorded just fine. Now that I am using both firewire camera’s when I hit the record button it flasshes for a second then stops. I have checked and the computer recognizes both cameras.
Tom, you probably just need to “SET” Cam2, so the software knows which camera you want where. If you download our latest version (7.2.0) the software should guide you through this automatically. If you still need help please call or email our support dept and we’ll get you going.
I am using a USB videograbber with the advanced coach edition and have tried using the rear view mirror mode. The live feed gives a good picture but when I go into time shifting the playback is not good screen freezes momenteraly, goes blank and speeds up or misses pieces of the action after it freezes. Any suggestions on how to get a better quality of picture when time shifting.
The Rear View Mirror feature works best with Firewire connections, as the video feed can be paused and resumed much quicker than with the USB grabbers. We have some ideas for improving this with USB video grabbers though, so hopefully the performance will be better in a future update!
Dave, we have golf swing libraries available in our online store at http://www.allsportsystems.com. Most of the swings are of up-and-coming professional golfers in Europe, and were filmed in high speed photography by one of our premier PGA coaches in Holland. While not famous names, their golf swings are excellent examples to compare against. Soon we will have more famous US golfers included in our libraries as well.
