Creating lessons with the Digital VCR software
Written by admin, December 31st, 2007

To create a video lesson you first open a video file (or capture some new video from your camera).

Next, while on the ‘Analyze’ screen, you use the menu “Digital VCR/Create a Video Lesson”. This will display a small preview window in the lower left corner of MotionView, showing the content that will be placed into your new lesson. Initially the preview window will include a dark blue frame, indicating that the lesson recorder is Paused.

When you are ready to add content to the new video lesson, press the REC button on the preview image. This starts the recording process, and the software begins capturing your screen activity (video stepping or playing, new drawings, etc), as well as your speech (through any standard PC microphone). When adding new content, the frame around the preview window will turn RED.

If you want to pause the lesson recorder (perhaps to change the video you are working with, or to set up some new drawings), you simply press the PAU button (which stands for pause).

You can continue this process (REC/PAU) as long as you like. Just keep in mind that new content is only added to the video lesson you are creating when the preview window has a RED frame around it.

Once you are done, press the END button. You will then be given a chance to review the video lesson you created, and to either save it or discard it. If you save it, it will automatically be compressed into a WMV video file and placed inside your computer’s CDROM burning folder to await burning to a CD.
